Welcome to PCT for Polio - Crissy's Pacific Crest Trail thru-hike |
 |
Rotary has been working to eradicate polio from the world for over twenty years, and now the goal set in 1985 to completely eradicate the world from polio is nearly accomplished.
Presently four polio endemic countries remain: India, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Nigeria. It is an exciting time for Rotary and all people of the world to celebrate the end of the silent crippler, Polio.
Knowing that the end of polio is near and that the need for funds will be high, Lake Elsinore Rotarian Crissy Wallace decided to take action. Crissy is hiking the Pacific Crest Trail beginning April 21, 2007 and plans to finish approximately October 1, 2007 to raise funds for polio eradication. All contributions will go to the Rotary Foundation for the PolioPlus Fund. This will prove to be an exciting fundraising opportunity that will allow many ways for people to become involved.
Please look around the site where information regarding this exciting hike can be found.
UPDATE: Crissy is now home and safe. She made it to Snoqualmie Pass in central Washington before being “snowed out” for the rest of the hiking year. She will still be actively raising funds until the end of this year. Thanks for all of your support!
Thank you for your interest and support.
